What to do if you have a Twisted Ankle
Twisted ankle is caused due to ligament rupturing owing to over stress and it is highly advised to cure twisted ankle at the earliest.
Ankle sprains are painful and are apparent among people involved in sporting activities commonly. However, twisted ankle also occurs due to the usage of improper footwear or even on running or walking on uneven surfaces. Earlier injuries slowly over age weaken feet and ankle causing twisted ankle or ankle injuries. It also is caused due to age to senior as their ankles become weak.
Ankle sprain that appears as a simple injury may sometimes turn to be worse. The severity of this injury is determined on the ligament rupture, partially or complete.
The severity of the injury is diagnosed by the doctor by applying some tests and examining the injured area.
The symptoms of each person vary based on the severity, yet some common symptoms include pain, bruising, swelling, stiff joints, tender joints, instability in the ankle area causing difficulty in walking and decreasing the range of motion.
The severity of this injury is assessed based on its symptoms such as higher the symptoms level, severe is the injury. Hence, importance to cure twisted ankle should not be ignored.
The first sprain results in pain, swelling and bruising. This can be cured with RICE treatment.
R for rest is essential for the first two or three days.
I for ice applied on the affected area reduces swelling and pain.
C for compression is offered to support ankle.
E for elevation helps in draining surplus blood from your ankle.
The second stage of ankle sprain can be cured applying RICE method, but takes more time to heal.
The third stage is painful that one cannot look for anything, but to cure twisted ankle as it makes even walking difficult and impossible without support.
